What breast plastic surgery covers
Breast plastic surgery changes the size, shape, position or symmetry of the breasts, restores them after illness or surgery, and treats the male chest. Most procedures belong to one of four aims.
Changing size and shape
Breast augmentation adds volume, most often with implants. Breast reduction does the opposite for breasts large enough to cause back, neck or shoulder discomfort. A breast lift (mastopexy) raises breasts that have dropped after pregnancy, weight change or with age, and can be combined with either of the first two.
Symmetry and revision
Breast asymmetry correction brings two different breasts closer in size and shape. Breast implant revision replaces or removes implants placed in an earlier operation, and nipple and areola reconstruction refines the details.
Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction rebuilds the breast after mastectomy or injury, with implants or the patient's own tissue, planned together with the patient's other doctors.
The male chest
Gynecomastia surgery removes enlarged breast tissue in men, and nipple reduction treats prominent nipples.
Choosing the right procedure
What suits a patient depends on their anatomy, skin quality, breast tissue, plans for pregnancy or breastfeeding, and what they want to achieve. In the consultation the surgeon examines the breasts, explains the options, including implant types where relevant, and plans the recovery and the support garment that follows. Breast surgery at ClinMedica is led by plastic and reconstructive surgeons including Op. Dr. Hasan Beyhan Kanmaz and Op. Dr. M. Türker Özyiğit.
